This policy explains how FurMeal, operated by Sotek LLC, collects, uses, and shares your health data. It covers "consumer health data" under Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar state laws, and "data concerning health" under the GDPR. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else.
The health data we collect
- Your age, sex, height, weight, and activity level.
- Your goal, starting weight, and target weight.
- Your weigh-ins, and the weight trends and calorie check-ins calculated from them.
- Foods you avoid, supplements you take, and the foods you enjoy.
- Your meal plans, with their calorie and macronutrient targets.
- The meals you check off in your diary, and when.
- Anything about your health you type to the AI plan generator, editor, or review.
Where it comes from
From you, as you use the app, and from calculations the app makes from what you enter. We do not buy health data or receive it from other companies.
How we use it
Only to create, edit, and review your meal plans, show your progress, and send the reminders you turn on. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. We do not use geofencing.
Who receives it
We do not share your health data with third parties or affiliates. These service providers process it on our behalf, under contract, and only to run FurMeal:
- Supabase - stores all of it in our database.
- Vercel - hosts the app, so your data passes through it on its way to and from the database.
- Anthropic - receives the details a plan generation, plan edit, or progress review needs, and returns the result. Anthropic does not train its models on this data.
We would disclose health data to anyone else only if the law required it, such as under a valid court order.
Your consent
We collect and use your health data only with your consent, which the app asks for separately from the Terms of Service. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Health data. Withdrawing stops the collection and deletes your health data: intake details, weigh-ins, calorie check-ins, AI conversations, and every plan with its diary, prep, and shopping history. Your account and subscription are kept. Without consent, FurMeal cannot make plans for you.
FurMeal is only for people aged 16 and older.
Your rights
- Access: download a copy of your health data, with the list of everyone who receives it, in Settings → Download my data. You can also ask us to confirm whether we collect or share your health data.
- Deletion: delete it yourself in Settings (Delete all data, or Delete my account), or ask us to. Copies in our database backups expire within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent: in Settings → Health data, as described above.
Email requests to support@sotek.io from the address you sign in with, so we know the request is yours. We answer within 45 days. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
If we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we will answer the appeal within 45 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general (in Washington, at atg.wa.gov) or, in the EU or UK, your data protection authority.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it, withdraw your consent, or delete your account, whichever comes first.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated. Before using your health data in a new way, or sharing it with someone new, we will ask for your consent again.
